In FY24, SECI announced 16.1 GW of RE tenders, with approximately 60% of the tendered capacity coming from innovative procurement formats such as wind–solar hybrid and storage projects. The increasingly innovative auctions aim to address the intermittency associated with RE sources and leverage complementary generation patterns of RE resources. This represents approximately a 4 GW higher capacity bidding than last year.
FY24’s RE bidding trajectory was 95% met. Continued efforts by all REIAs will play a crucial role in meeting the annual bidding target in FY25.
Last year, SECI announced an average of ~4 GW of RE bids per quarter. Yet, in Q1 FY25, SECI issued RE tenders for just 2.1 GW. Can SECI suitably accelerate the pace of tenders announced in the coming quarters?
