Notable because

The successful deployment of storage, either in the form of battery energy storage systems (BESS) or pumped storage, will be a key determinant of whether the Indian grid can absorb the targeted 500 GW of non-fossil capacity by 2030. Besides traditional long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) between RE generators and discoms,  various emerging demand sources, such as green hydrogen production, will collectively absorb the generated non-fossil electricity.

What to look out for in the months ahead

What will be the terms of finance that Indian banks and NBFCs offer to BESS and green hydrogen projects that have limited track records in terms of technology performance? Could a technology de-risking fund help lenders extend capital on competitive terms and simultaneously generate a track record of deployment?
