MNRE issues scheme guidelines for setting up green hydrogen hubs

Green hydrogen hubs aim to integrate production and consumption across multiple use cases, which is pivotal for achieving commercial viability at scale. These hubs are expected to make GH2 more competitively priced than traditional alternatives. The recent guidelines, including the central financial assistance (CFA) provided under the NGHM, are designed to ensure transparency and instil confidence in the industry, which may attract investments.

What to look out for in the months ahead

With Kerala and Gujarat setting a precedent by initiating GH2 valley projects, will other Indian states follow suit? Will they also align their initiatives with the guidelines issued by the MNRE?

Considering the critical requirements of GH2 hubs, such as water availability, access to renewable energy resources, and port connectivity for exports, which regions in India are poised to emerge as potential hubs under the NGHM?
