Notable because

NTPC has been rapidly diversifying its business through its renewables subsidiary, NTPC Green. NTPC Green’s collaborations include a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and a partnership with Ohmium to expand its green portfolio. The company has now signed a joint venture agreement with MPREIT to develop 10GW worth of RE assets in Maharashtra. Given the scale of India's RE targets, this will help capitalise on Maharashtra's abundant RE potential.

What to look out for in the months ahead

How will the industry perceive these developments? In the coming time, will other public sector utilities (PSUs) follow suit? Moreover, will NTPC explore other collaborations to diversify its emerging clean energy portfolio beyond renewable energy?
