Annual allocation of green ammonia for fertiliser sector up by 2 lakh tonnes

Mode 2A of the SIGHT scheme’s Component II was introduced earlier in January 2024. 

Following the rising response from the fertiliser industry for green ammonia under the ensuing tender conducted by SECI through Mode 2A, the guidelines have been amended to increase the capacity under tendering by 2 lakh tonnes. This move highlights the growing demand in the industry for green hydrogen and its derivatives.

The earlier SECI tender for 5.39 lakh MT of green ammonia had identified 11 offtaker projects. Will the enhanced capacities be offtaken by the same projects, or would new beneficiary fertiliser projects be identified?
