Notable because

India aims to install 500 GW of non-fossil fuel–based capacity by 2030. Solar installations have an instrumental role to play in this. Hence, to ensure uninterrupted solar capacity addition, continuous efforts are being made to reduce India’s dependency on imported solar cells and modules. Examples include the introduction of a PLI scheme for domestic manufacturing, increasing basic customs duty, and reimposing ALMM. Establishing a data repository is a step towards creating a robust supply chain.

What to look out for in the months ahead

What steps will the nodal agency take to collect and maintain an exhaustive database?

Will the repository enhance transparency with regard to the quality of domestically manufactured modules used in solar projects?
