Designation offered Research Analyst & Coordinator

Reporting to Fellow and Lead – International Cooperation

Location New Delhi, India | Full-time, in the office, 5 days a week, no remote work

Purpose

CEEW seeks to hire a Research Analyst & Coordinator for the International Cooperation (IC) Team. IC manages most of CEEW’s international government and institutional relationships through partnerships, projects and research. It tracks the geopolitics of energy security and transition; governance and trade of critical resources; governance of sustainable finance; and global perspectives on issues such as industrial decarbonisation, circular economy, prosperity, and multilateralism. IC interacts with high-level officials of the Union government, embassies and diplomatic missions, and senior members of industry and multilateral agencies. The IC Team comprises the Fellow and Lead – International Cooperation, Programme Lead/s and Associate/s, and Research Analyst & Coordinator/s. It is mentored by the Founder-CEO, CEEW.

The RA&C will work on select major projects, including their internal and external relationships, activities and research. The split of core research to coordination (project and people engagements) would be 70:30. The research will draw from organisational sources as well as government and third-party content, and cover all sectors of CEEW’s work, plus national and international energy, climate and governance policy developments.

This will include:

  • Primary and secondary research, and preparing memos/issue briefs/reports on subjects covered by the IC as noted in the Purpose section.
  • Customising CEEW’s research for key stakeholders and taking their inputs on how CEEW’s work can inform national and international energy, resource and climate strategies and policies.
  • Working with external stakeholders and internal teams to plan and deliver strategic convenings such as roundtables related to the research.
  • Supporting the Fellow and Lead – International Cooperation with her engagements and assignments, including all preparatory work from scheduling the briefing notes and minutes, and working on major long-term activities such as engagement with the G20, Country Desks, and the Context Lab.

Job duties and accountabilities

Research

  • Track political, business and technology-related developments on energy, industry, the environment, and developmental pathways of India in the context of national priorities, international governance, trade, finance and socioeconomic dimensions. This includes tracking CEEW’s sectoral research and publications to connect the dots between CEEW’s work and the global scenario.
  • Write policy memos, issue briefs and reports based on primary and official secondary sources, including CEEW’s research, and when required, in consultation with sectoral teams.
  • Be part of the Fellow and Lead – International Cooperation’s engagements with high level government officials, industry captains, multilateral organisations, and other institutional stakeholders.
  • Prepare briefing notes and minutes of meetings, conduct pre- and post-engagement follow-ups, and build and nurture cordial, mutually rewarding relationships with stakeholders.
  • As decided in consultation with the Fellow and Lead – International Cooperation, engage in deeper research projects, particularly on geopolitics, energy and climate governance, and international negotiations.

Stakeholder coordination

  • Sustain and evolve stakeholder relationships with regular meetings and communication of CEEW’s activities.
  • Develop and manage the delivery of stakeholder interactions such as roundtables and webinars.
  • Coordinate with internal teams with thorough research, understanding of context, and professional poise.

Own work management

  • Intelligently manage content using Google-based email, calendar, and Drive systems, and CEEW hashtags.
  • Strictly follow CEEW’s SOPs for activities and publications and inculcate that in collaborators.
  • Meet deadlines, as decided with the manager, on time and in full, i.e. v1 of the work should not require formatting or primary corrections. Only content-level edits and updates should be needed for v2.
  • Arrive for meetings in good time with full preparation, including IT systems and documents.
