Amritsar Smart City Limited and CEEW launch electric autorickshaw pilot for green transition

A pilot programme to enable Amritsar's transition to electric autos was launched on 10 February 2024. The initiative was flagged off by Shri Harpreet Singh, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Amritsar. This pilot project will provide approximately 300 diesel auto drivers with first-hand experience of e-autos over the course of three months, and is a part of ASCL’s RAAHI project, aimed at transitioning the city’s existing diesel autorickshaw fleet to electric to increase incomes, mitigate air pollution, and help the city go green. The pilot is a behaviour change intervention to nudge this electric transition. The event also saw the launch of ‘Sadak Ke Sartaj’, a locally-led, multi-media awareness campaign that positions ‘pradhans’ (regional union leaders) as change leaders of this transition.
