Towards a Citizen-centric Energy Transition: Building Skills for Workers and Communities

04 Jul 2024   |   1300 - 1700 IST

The Council on Energy, Environment and Water invites you to a dialogue 'Towards a Citizen-centric Energy Transition: Building Skills for Workers and Communities' on 04 July 2024, 1300-1700 IST at Maple Hall, India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

An increasing number of clean and green innovations are being used in India to repurpose outmoded thermal power plants. These creative fixes include the production of bioenergy, solar power installations, and battery energy storage devices. While investigating technical alternatives and supporting financial structures is crucial, the transition must also be citizen-centric.

The session will see the launch of our study 'Assessing Thermal Power Plant Transitions: A Case Study of Worker and Community Dependence'. We will discuss experiences of citizen-centric transitions from other countries and approaches to upskilling and reskilling workers and communities to ensure a just energy transition in India.
