Shashwat Shukla

Research Analyst

Shashwat is a Research Analyst in the Sustainable Food Systems team at The Council. He holds a master’s degree in Development Studies from the Tata Institute of Social Science, during which he went for a student exchange semester with the University of Sydney, Australia. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Don Bosco Institute of Technology, Mumbai.

Prior to joining CEEW, he was a healthcare intern with the Sahyadri Manav Seva Manch, working with Warli and Katkari tribal population in the inaccessible areas of Palghar, Maharashtra. He was also a Local Pathways Fellow with the UN SDSN in the 2022 cohort, working on a report on urban rainwater harvesting. He has worked as a Parliamentary Research Coordinator with the MP of Srikakulam, heading a team of 15 interns to create parliamentary interventions and generating research reports for them.

Shashwat is a published author of multiple research papers and policy briefs, on subjects like Gandhian education policy, Urban Agriculture, medical education fees as well as a book review of Manjima Bhattacharjya’s ‘Intimate City’.

When not nerding over public policy, he practices his goalkeeping skills, poetry, and watches new series’.
