Richik Bandyopadhyay

Global South Fellow

Richik is a Global South Fellow with the Power Markets team at The Council, where he focuses on enhancing the adoption of solar power in agriculture and supports the implementation of government schemes aimed at digitising the power sector. Prior to joining CEEW, he had experience in consulting, impact assessment, and project management from his time with organisations like the IFC, Global Change Programme, 60 Decibels, Zolar, and Ashoka University. His problem-solving approach is rooted in first principles thinking, complemented by his proficiency in financial modelling for various Projects.

He earned his undergraduate degree in Economics from St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata, and is a Young India Fellow from Ashoka University. Furthering his education, Richik completed a master’s in public policy specialising in sustainability at the Hertie School in Berlin. This academic journey has equipped him to understand climate action and the desire to contribute to it.

Richik believes the world will cross 2°C warming sooner rather than later, and the paramount focus should be on ensuring that the lives and livelihoods of the most marginalised are safeguarded. When not working, Richik can be found discovering new music on Spotify, rewatching Satyajit Ray and Stanley Kubrick films, reading up on Indian politics, or giving investment advice to friends and family.
