Nikita Shukla

Research Analyst

As a Research Analyst in the Low-carbon Economy team at The Council, Nikita's role revolves around energy modelling and deep decarbonisation pathways, with the broader objective of supporting India's energy and climate policy through evidence-based and cutting-edge analytical approaches. Her research interests include carbon markets, just transitions, gender, and governance.

Nikita holds a master’s degree in Public Policy & Governance from Azim Premji University, Bengaluru. Her postgraduate thesis was on carbon markets. She also specializes in qualitative analysis, implementation sciences, and Monitoring and Evaluation techniques.

Outside of academics, she has designed a "Brand assessment methodology" to evaluate companies/ brands' sustainable practices based on information provided by them. She also conducted a year-long study on climate justice, where she assessed the nature of vulnerabilities experienced by communities dependent on the coastal ecosystem for their livelihood in coastal Karnataka (in the context of climate change).

Her preferred leisure activities are cooking, gardening, and staying updated on global developments.
