New Delhi (28 January 2017): For the fourth consecutive year, CEEW has been ranked as South Asia’s top think tank (14th globally) with an annual operating budget of less than $5 Million USD. As with last year, CEEW has again been featured extensively across nine categories in the ‘2016 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report’, released this week by the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program (TTCSP) at the University of Pennsylvania. CEEW has also been ranked as second in South Asia among ‘Top Energy and Resource Policy Think Tanks’ and third in South Asia for ‘Best Institutional Collaboration Involving Two or More Think Tanks’.

As per the 2016 Global Go To Think Tank Index Report, CEEW has also once again been featured in the prestigious list of ‘Best Managed Think Tanks’ and ‘Best Independent Think Tanks’. Other categories where CEEW has featured in the latest report include ‘Top Environment Policy Think Tanks’, ‘Think Tanks to Watch’, ‘Top Science and Technology Think Tanks’, and ‘Top Think Tanks in China, India, Japan and the Republic of Korea’.

Dr Arunabha Ghosh, CEO, CEEW, said, “For the past four years, CEEW has consistently featured in multiple categories of the Global Go To Think Tank Index report. Over the years, CEEW has built up a reputation of quality research, impartial policy engagement and extensive public outreach. The latest rankings are testimony to our persistent efforts to build an independent and world class institution - and the support from our valued partners. We are just over six years old but are encouraged by our consistent performance, our publications, outreach, engagement and impact.”

The 2016 Global Go To Think Tank Index is the most comprehensive global ranking of the world’s leading think tanks, considering 6846 think tanks worldwide including 280 think tanks in India. It is compiled with assistance from more than 1,900 peer institutions and experts from the print and electronic media, academia, public and private donor institutions and governments around the world.

CEEW has also been consistently ranked among the world’s 20 best climate think-tanks by the ‘ICCG Climate Think Tank Rankings’.
