CEEW co-host at a public event with H.E. President of Iceland, Olafur Ragnar Grimsson
5 Apr 2013

CEEW co-hosts a public event with Aspen Institute India (AII) and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) on “The AHA Moment: India and our Ice-Covered World”. The speaker, H.E. President Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson of Iceland focused on the Antarctic, Himalayan and Arctic regions and how the changes taking place there will impact the global environment and consequently social patterns everywhere. This is particularly important for water and climate-related concerns for India because it is at the fulcrum of the 'Third Pole' i.e. the Himalayan-Hindu Kush region, which is the source of ten major rivers and with more stored snow and ice than anywhere outside the polar regions.

The session was chaired by Mr. Gautam Thapar, Trustee, CEEW and Chairman and CEO, Avantha Group.
