CEEW conducts field visits in rural Karnataka to understand how off-grid solar power lights the lives of the people
4 Oct 2012

Researchers from CEEW visited rural areas like Vandse, Shishila and Ujire in the periphery of Mangalore and Udupi as a part of their ongoing research on increasing energy penetration through off-grid solar power generation models.

CEEW met banking managers who have supported Selco’s solar electrification to discuss the solar financing systems in different villages, visited  a rural school where students are provided the facility to charge their lanterns, and talked to end-users like migrant workers, vegetable vendors, and residents in rural un-electrified houses to get a real sense of the impact off-grid solar solutions have made to their lives, and constraints they continue to face. CEEW is in pursuit of developing an approach to increasing energy penetration by facilitating off-grid power regeneration based on inputs from stakeholders in the field.
